IP Counsel/Technology Specialist, Intellectual Property Job Function: Intellectual Property/Patent Law Company: WuXi Biologics This position will perform technical analysis and evaluation for patent application filing, prosecution and management as part of an IP team focusing on the areas of biologics. Primary Job Responsibilities • Analyze and review technical disclosures/reports, discuss with inventors to understand new inventions • Analyze and summarize patent information and scientific publications upon request • Search literature and patent databases to determine the patentability of inventions • Draft written assessments of the prospects of obtaining patent protection • Assist with communications between inventors and external law firm to prepare patent applications • Assist with prosecution of patent applications • Monitoring due dates • Safe handling of patent managing system (Foundation IP), manage patent related files (upload of documents e.g. reply of Office Action, filing text, workflow creation, etc.) • Recording IP documents • Responsible for translation, notarization and legalization of documents by working with external law firms, notary public office and other public services. Knowledge Successful candidates will have previous experience or knowledge in the following scientific and technical areas: • Familiar with DNA/RNA/peptide materials, including structure, terms, and sequences • Understand antibody, antigen, biosimilars, epitope, antibody discovery platforms, biologics terms and principles • Familiar with development of biologics such as cell line and cell culture development, purification development, formulation development, and assay development. • Experience in domestic and foreign patent prosecution procedures and practice a plus. • Experience in managing and prosecuting patent applications and IP counseling with a law firm or in-house within a pharmaceutical company a plus Skills/Experience • Technical understanding in the areas of biologics • Ability to manage IP portfolios/documents methodically and timely • Self-motivated to work effectively and efficiently • Attention to details and ability to meet deadlines • Must be able to handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently and manage priorities accordingly. • Good understanding of patent law a plus.
