Objective
• To provide IP expertise on protecting company new technologies through intellectual property application and ensuring market access through FTO (freedom to operate) search (IP and technology) in the DGRC Region
• To maintain minimum infringement of intellectual property owned by Daimler and its affiliates in the DGRC region
• Intellectual property liaison function for China
Task description
• To collect and communicate on information of locally made inventions (DAG and its affiliates inclusive of JVs), to make research for relevant prior art and prepare first analysis report from technical view.
• To draft patent application documents, and to ensure and manage Daimler’s R&D results in China through patent application.
• To plan , organize, coordinate, provide IP trainings to RD colleagues on IP and IP risks
• To cooperate with DAG IP team for protections on Daimler’s R&D results made outside China through patent application in China
• To make patent search/monitoring, technical analysis on comprehensive or exclusive topics with structured analysis, to pursue and identify technical trends and market developments (evaluation, reporting) to establish/adopt viable strategies of protection on intellectual property rights, and to implement the strategies with joint efforts of related DAG functional & business units
• To compile and edit data on patent portfolios of DAG and its affiliates, and to assess patent portfolios of other companies in relevant industries
• To coordinate other relevant IP issues with and provide consultation to BUs, and to coordinate with/instruct external law firms
Qualification
• Education
- University degree in Science
- Educational background in intellectual property is a plus
• Experience
- Minimum 2 years working experience in patent searching, drafting, prosecuting;
- Skilled at FTO (freedom to operate) search on product and risk analysis;
- Basic Knowledge of science, automotive-related knowledge is an advantage;
- Knowledge of automotive industry;
- Ability to work independently;
- Must possess a high degree of integrity;
- Thinking and doing in a analytic/strategic/innovative manner;
- Strong negotiation skills and good intercultural competence;
- High level of flexibility;
- Very good English (both written and orally), German language capability is an advantage;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Good team-worker in an international environment
- A patent atony certificate and/or a lawyer certificate in China is an advantage.
